Medicine and the humanities

Yale Medicine Magazine, 2017 - Spring

Contents

Congratulations on the excellent Yale Medicine, Winter 2017 edition. I was interested in the comment regarding the Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra, along with the picture. In about 1970, when my prior mentor Philip Bondy, M.D., was chair of medicine, he invited me to return to Yale to give a seminar. He told me he could not join me for dinner because of another engagement. When I wandered through Harkness Hall to meet a friend, there was Phil leading and participating in a string quartet with students. Faculty involvement with students in making music certainly goes back to the Bondy era. It is always good to read about the Yale School of Medicine and to learn how it remains a leader in education, research, and humanity.
