Change in faculty affairs

Carolyn Mazure, Ph.D., has stepped down after 12 years as associate dean for faculty affairs to devote her full effort to directing Women’s Health Research at Yale. Mazure led the Office for Faculty Affairs during a period when the number of ladder faculty at the medical school grew from just over 900 to almost 1,500. Her leadership was instrumental in implementing policy changes that helped improve the careers and lives of faculty, including revision of parental leave policy, new criteria for promotion in the investigator track, development of the clinician employment category, and establishment of department-based guidelines for voluntary faculty.

Mazure also oversaw the appointments and promotions process and the work of key committees including the Commission on Women Faculty, the Working Group in Examining Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault Procedures and Processes at YSM, the Committee on the YSM Faculty Compensation Structure and Review Process, and the Investigator Faculty Track Review Committee.

At Women’s Health Research she plans to expand research that emphasizes the study of women, as well as men, and to advance gender-specific medicine.
